THE 2023 RACE - THANK YOU
A sincere thank you to the 1400 registered runners for coming out in the pouring rain to celebrate the Newton Turkey Trot's 10th anniversary race! The weather did not stop our community from coming together to start the Thanksgiving holiday while contributing in a lasting and significant way to the Newton Food Pantry, Centre Street Food Pantry and Journey Forward.

This event would not be possible without the generous donations of our sponsors, the invaluable help of our many volunteers, the support from the City of Newton Police Officers and Public Works Department, and Newton Mayor, Ruthanne Fuller.

We are so grateful for all your contributions and support through the last 10 years. Wishing you a peaceful holiday season and remember to:
Bring your sneakers everywhere.

See you in November 2024.
Happy running and be well,
the Newton Turkey Trot team

RACE FOR COMMUNITY
Ten Years of Giving
To-date, the Newton Turkey Trot has raised $163,000 to support its goals of youth awareness of health and wellness and of community service. We will continue our partnership of providing support to the Newton Food Pantry and Journey Forward.

The Newton Food Pantry and Centre Street Food Pantry continue to do amazing things by putting food on our neighbors’ tables. Combined, the two pantries provide food and personal care products to over 3,200 residents of Newton and surrounding communities each month. Beginning this year, the NTT will support both Newton Food Pantries.

In 2023, we will continue our support Journey Forward. This non-profit has helped Ethan Wang of Newton, and others who have survived a severe spinal cord injury or disability with their intense exercise-based programs.

In 2022, the Newton Turkey Trot gifted $33,000 to these causes.
"Bring your sneakers everywhere."
On behalf of the Newton Turkey Trot runners, we have dedicated a bench to honor our dear friend Tim O'Brien, on Centre St. and Commonwealth Ave facing Heartbreak Hill. This was Tim's favorite hill to run up, and it was his tradition to run to the top just before midnight on New Year's Eve and to be the first one down in the new year. Many Newton community members also took part in the CPR classes in his honor.

This year we want to continue to honor his memory and the memory of others we have lost by asking you to post the wonderful places you have traveled by "Bringing your sneakers everywhere." We have heard that our runners have traveled to Nice, Munich, Lisbon, Algarve, Ibiza, Brussels, Rome Marrakech, Interlaken, Madrid, Barcelona, London, Scotland, Singapore, Washington, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, New York, Colorado, California, Wisconsin, Georgia, Virginia, Florida, Washington DC.

We want to hear where you have been "Bringing your sneakers." Post your photos on our Instagram or Facebook pages.
...and More
The Newton Turkey Trot is a family event that has drawn more than 1,300 participants each year from our community and beyond. Our family of runners are continuing to enjoy running outside again and continuing to support our fundraising goals. The Newton Food Pantry, The Centre Street Food Pantry and Journey Forward need our support. We hope you will continue to support our race and your community.
